Historic Life Boat launched after restoration

A 100-year-old lifeboat has been relaunched after a 20-year restoration, at the height of a spring tide on 9 May 2024. The vessel, Ex RNLI Manchester and Salford, once rescued mariners on the Manchester Ship Canal and Irish Sea. It has now taken to the water in Hesketh Bank, Lancashire, after being restored by owner Mark Raynes. The retired engineer, from Shevington, near Wigan, came to the rescue when the boat, built in 1924, was washed up and abandoned on a beach at Deganwy in north Wales.

The season will soon be here

Recently had a go at lino-cut printing, the small boat in the foreground is actually a buoy !

The outboard has started fine and the lighting board also works on the car - just need to get it through the MOT.
