Met Éireann named Storm Betty as a low-pressure system which also triggered Met Office warnings. It initially caused strong winds in the SW on Friday 18 August, before travelling north to reach the west coast of Scotland, with the strongest winds reaching 65 mph in North Wales, as well very heavy rain fall.
